Discover the Centre of Alternative Technology, it's got something for everyone...
Spend the day exploring our interactive solar, water and wind power displays set in colourful organic gardens. Water powered cliff railway operates Easter - October.
A water-balanced cliff railway (operating from Easter through October), offers a dramatic entrance to CAT's seven-acre display site. The Centre is run largely on home-grown renewable electricity and displays include solar, wind and water power. Environmental building, organic growing, pest and weed control and composting are also well represented.
The children, meanwhile, will be at the hands-on displays, from the wave tank to the water and solar pumps. That's if you can move them on from the animals and the adventure playground and haven't lost them in the Transport Maze! Megan the Mole is always a big hit, too. Her underground 'Mole-Hole' offers an intriguing taste of life in the soil.
The Shop has a unique range of books and products and the cafeteria restaurant offers tasty vegetarian lunches and refreshments.
CAT is inspiring, informative and fun. You'll be amazed at how nature has reclaimed this former slate quarry, transforming it into a truly beautiful place.
We now have a fully accredited Taste of Wales, licensed, wholefood Restaurant and Cafeteria. Most of our supplies are purchased locally, so why not give yourself a treat? Sunday lunches also served.
Naturally, we still feature Britain's greenest public building, which displays unique books and gifts that don't cost the Earth!
Touch screen computers with free internet access in our fully staffed Information Centre. Also open seven days a week.
