Staying Fit in North Wales

Staying Fit in North WalesWith the promise of the Christmas turkey getting many people’s appetites going in North Wales, there will be no lack of New Year’s Resolutions to get in shape after the big meal.

There are so many ways to get fit with activities in North Wales and as there’s no shortage of places to explore, here are a few ways you can help drop those Christmas pounds.

Take a Walk

One of the most joyous aspects of living in North Wales is that no matter where you go, you will always find some new area of wonderful scenery.

Rambler’s Groups can be found all over with teams ranging from Bethesda to Bangor amongst many others. As the nation’s favourite walking enthusiasts, this charity-based company will relish having any new members for the New Year.

Hike

You’re never more than a quick journey away from a beautiful natural landmark in the north and this is definitely the case in the higher climes of the Welsh countryside.

Snowdon is of course the road most travelled with hundreds of thousands flocking to admire and to try to beat it each year. However, there are plenty of other mountainous joys to be attempted throughout Snowdonia and their relative obscurity can prove more rewarding when you tackle them.

If you’re not quite feeling a grand adventure then are more gentle ascents to be found all over the region as well.

Cycling

There’s been a real surge in cycling in North Wales and you’ll never have to look far to see a bike lane or path.

If you’re after the more natural path then a journey from Criccieth to Caernarfon is one of the most scenic you’ll find anywhere.
