Helfa Gelf/ Art Trail in North Wales’ largest open studio event, which showcases more than 300 artists over the month of September each year. The Art Trail combines events, open houses, galleries and much more over a huge range of venues.

Everyone is invited to go along and enjoy the offerings of the Helfa Gelf, which will showcase the normally hidden world of artists and crafts people about their creative processes and studio spaces. These spaces could be from a mainstream studio to the simple and pure garden shed. The venues in which they work are as inspirational as the art that they create. Whether you want to enjoy art and crafts, experience their studios or buy a fantastic art piece, attending Helfa Gelf throughout September is the perfect way to spend a weekend.

Running on every Friday, Saturday and Sunday each year, this Art Trail is the perfect place to enjoy some time with family, friends or alone, experiencing some of the finest art talents in the world.

Now in its 8th year, the Helfa Gelf free annual event has spread itself across North Wales, with events in 5 different counties – Gwynedd, Conwy, Flintshire, Denbghshire and Wrexham. The art trail is a chance for visitors to see what goes on behind the scenes of welsh arts and crafts, chat with artists and find out about their inspiration and their creative ideas.

Every weekend this September, you are able to forge your own art trail around the area, calling in on painters, sculptors, photographers, jewellery makers, woodworkers, potters, textile workers, glass makers, basket weavers and printers – each of which have a highly individual skill.

North Wales is an absolute gem for its arts and crafts, which are often inspired by the local culture and environments that may be derived from walking in the mountains or experiencing many of the different elements that is enjoyed in North Wales.

From purpose built studio spaces and galleries to garden sheds and back rooms – in wild countryside and busy towns – you will receive a warm welcome from the artists wherever they may be. You will be able to join the ever-growing number of art enthusiasts who enjoy this yearly event that is completely free.
