Getting Active in Snowdonia

Whilst a walk up Snowdon is a great hike and a memorable achievement, lots of people seem to have the same idea – meaning the beauty spot can be somewhat spoiled at peak times. You can get so many more exhilarating experiences in the National Park, and we have a list of them to get your blood pumping.

Just one day in Snowdonia won’t be enough. Plan your break with an exciting stay too. You can find a camping spot, or choose one of the holiday parks north wales has to offer – they might even provide a discount on popular outdoor activities.

Activities to try in Snowdonia:

Mountain biking at Coed y Brenin

Elite bikers would need no introduction to Coed y Brenin, but for those who have never tried it, this is Britains best mountain bike hub.

Have a go at mountain biking, there are paths from beginners all the way up to those who are the most experienced. The experience is incredible for all, you’ll see mountains and forests on the kid’s trail! On some of the routes, you even pass deserted gold mines and lakes.

Ziplining at Zip World

Soar through the air on the longest zip line in Europe (and it’s the fastest in the world too) on the Velocity 2. Four lines are placed parallel to each other 500ft up, crossing a mile over what was once the biggest quarry in the world, Penrhyn Quarry.

Those who dare to ride do so solo across the sky at over 100mph, you’ll feel like you are flying.

Bounce Around Inside a Cave

Deep inside a chamber at Llechwedd Slate Caverns is the most extraordinary trampolining experience. Bounce Below has a huge trampoline set up in a web, one above the other, like a futuristic alien spaceship that is connected with a slide and ladders.

Catch Waves Whatever the Tide

It’s not very often you get the chance to go surfing in-land. Surf Snowdonia is a truly unique experience. They have created a man-made lagoon which releases the dream wave every time, and you’ll be surrounded by gorgeous countryside.

The two-metre high waves peel perfectly in the heart of the Conwy Valley, a surfer couldn’t wish for more.

White Water Rafting at Bala

Despite being a pretty river, the Tryweryn is also so much more. When the dam releases from up-stream, it transforms the river into eventful white rapids. This one is fast and exhilarating, and only for adults. Kids can enjoy a gentle paddle through the woods which will keep them just as entertained.
