Built by the Welsh Princes of Gwynedd, Llywelyn the Great, and dates to the 13th century about the year 1230. The tower stands 40ft high and is built of local slate. Standing on top of a hill overlooking Lake Padarn the castle blocks any movement in the steep sided valley below.
